Let’s Revisit Kierra Sheard’s “Bold Right Life”
I’ve got three new CDs sitting in front of me from artists Mary Mary, Kurt Carr and Kierra Sheard. All three are worth picking up and I will talk about and feature songs from their projects, soon - but this post is for Kierra and her five out of five star project.
Given Kierra’s track record for picking the right producers and singing her heart out, I was still, somehow a little skeptical of picking her CD up. After all, it would have to be quite a task to outdo her previous works and anything less, would be disappointing - at least to me (I’m such a critic).
It must be a mental thing but I tend to look at how many tracks are on a CD, and if it’s less than twelve, suddenly it becomes a harder sell (there are eleven tracks on this project). Sadly, there are artists turning out CDs, with only one or two good songs on them, so I figure the more tracks there are, the better my odds are for hearing a few good songs.
With Kierra’s Bold Right Life, not to worry, there are absolutely no bad songs, no filler whatsoever. Even with five different producers, the CD is a work of balanced and cohesive joy.
In an age, where artists suffer from copy-itis and lack of creativity, Kierra’s CD is a breath of fresh air. What a triumph for her. Kierra has blossomed into a beautiful woman of God and her brother, J. Drew Sheard, who produced three of the songs on this project, has created some of the most refreshing music I’ve heard in Gospel in a long time.
Kierra has evolved as an artist, getting better with every successive project. The project is definitely a must have for young and old.
