If you feel like moving a bit, I got something new, something true, something upbeat, the opposite of the blues, something with fire to fuel your desires, at your weakest hour, in God’s word, there’s power.

Don’t sit there. You got a lot to do, so Get Up, and if you like the music, Wave Your Banner. Let the music play, and have a blessed day.

Let’s Revisit Kierra Sheard’s “Bold Right Life”

I’ve got three new CDs sitting in front of me from artists Mary Mary, Kurt Carr and Kierra Sheard. All three are worth picking up and I will talk about and feature songs from their projects, soon - but this post is for Kierra and her five out of five star project

Given Kierra’s track record for picking the right producers and singing her heart out, I was still, somehow a little skeptical of picking her CD up. After all, it would have to be quite a task to outdo her previous works and anything less, would be disappointing - at least to me (I’m such a critic).

It must be a mental thing but I tend to look at how many tracks are on a CD, and if it’s less than twelve, suddenly it becomes a harder sell (there are eleven tracks on this project). Sadly, there are artists turning out CDs, with only one or two good songs on them, so I figure the more tracks there are, the better my odds are for hearing a few good songs.

With Kierra’s Bold Right Life, not to worry, there are absolutely no bad songs, no filler whatsoever. Even with five different producers, the CD is a work of balanced and cohesive joy.

In an age, where artists suffer from copy-itis and lack of creativity, Kierra’s CD is a breath of fresh air. What a triumph for her. Kierra has blossomed into a beautiful woman of God and her brother, J. Drew Sheard, who produced three of the songs on this project, has created some of the most refreshing music I’ve heard in Gospel in a long time.

Kierra has evolved as an artist, getting better with every successive project. The project is definitely a must have for young and old.

A Random Act of Kindness

Random acts of kindness by genuinely good people still exist in today’s age.

Take one woman’s plight. With her home in foreclosure, she decided to attend the auction for her old house. Thru her tears, she met an angel, named Marilyn Mock, who asked, “What she was upset about.”

What happened after that is something we rarely see or talk about these days.

The angel, Marilyn, bought the house and gave it back to the woman. How beautiful is that.

The Glory of Christmas

Glory of Christmas

If you’re planning to be in The Southern California area between November 28 and January 4th, you may want to check out a spectacular Christmas Play, the Crystal Cathedral puts on, entitled “The Glory of Christmas.”

For those in the Atlanta area who miss seeing the King of Glory (currently on hiatus), this is a great and comparable alternative.

The Hour of Power Has Come To An End for Robert A. Schuller

Apparently daddy (Robert H. Schuller) wasn’t pleased with the direction son (Robert A. Schuller) was taking the ministry he founded. With that, on yesterday, daddy told his son to hit the road and don’t let the door hit you where the Lord split you (paraphrasing).

What Happened? No one knows for sure? But daddy Schuller did offer the following tidbit:

“It is no secret to any of you that my son, Robert, and I have been struggling as we each have different ideas as to the direction and the vision for this ministry,” his statement read.

“For this lack of shared vision and the jeopardy in which this is placing this entire ministry, it has become necessary for Robert and me to part ways.”

The Hour of Power (or more appropriately, ”Half” Hour of Power in some markets) will bring in several guest pastors from around the country to preach during the show.

The decision marks a surprising reversal of the emotional moment when Schuller turned over the church ministries and the television program to his son during services at the Crystal Cathedral in January 2006. The two men hugged and the elder Schuller fought tears as he addressed his congregants.

At the time, though, he made it clear: “I am not retiring.”

Robert A. Schuller’s major challenge was attracting younger congregants and using the television program to build membership. It is unclear whether he achieved that.

He will remain as senior pastor of the Crystal Cathedral, a spokesman said, though there was no word on whether he will continue to preach.

Despite the wording of the statement, it remained vague Saturday what prompted the schism between the father and son who have been the face of “Hour of Power,” which is syndicated worldwide.

“I wish I had an answer for you. I just don’t know,” said John Charles, a church spokesman. “I tried to get that question answered today and there’s really no answer. The two principals would have to explain that, and they’re not.”

In the statement, daddy Schuller said he will continue to be the host of a weekly church service and preach occasionally.

But “no longer will the ‘Hour of Power’ be the voice and face of just one or two individuals,” he wrote, adding that the show would now “serve as a platform for the greatest preachers in the world.”

Robert A. Schuller, known to congregants as Robert II, had been groomed to take over for his father since 1996.

He had followed in his father’s footsteps almost exactly, attending the same college, Hope College in Holland, Mich. He also founded his own Orange County church, in San Juan Capistrano, before coming to the Crystal Cathedral seven years ago.

Like his father, he also writes religious books — 13 at last count, according to the church’s website. In recent months, however, the younger Schuller had disappeared from the television program, replaced by reruns featuring his father.

In chats on the church’s website, participants wondered what happened to the younger Schuller.

“Has he been on a missionary trip or something?” one chatter wrote.

“Enough already. Where is RAS?” wrote another. “All administrators and pastors — please be open with your church members.”

Jennifer Hudson Loses Loved Ones

No day is promised to us and alas, even a God-Fearing woman is not guaranteed to die peacefully. Senseless deaths of Christians were covered in The Bible and endure to this day. This is so incredibly sad, though. It breaks my heart to read about this. I’m mourning their loss along with the family and many others.

Why does success have to come with penalty? Why does bad have to accompany good? Why can’t we have sunshine, without the worry of rain?

I have no doubt, Jennifer would give that Oscar back if she could avoid losing her loved ones. In just one day, all the gains she’s made have been cancelled out by a senseless act that will likely haunt her for the rest of her life.

I can’t begin to put myself in Jennifer Hudson’s shoes, but I know that if my mom experienced a similar fate, I’m not sure I’d be able to retain my sanity.

We really should keep Jennifer and her family in prayer.

God, if You’re Listening, Please Forgive Sarah

Ok, we get it. You’re a Christian    …but, perhaps, you should keep that to yourself because as the days and weeks go by, more and more of your non-Christian ways receive spotlight treatment.

True, we’re not perfect, but Sarah, you’re on quite a pedestal these days and it doesn’t help you’ve been throwing quite a few stones at fellow brother in Christ, Barack.

If Barack is the Wealth Spender, what are you? - classic case of throwing stones while living in a glass house is what I call it.

Your kids travelled with you on Alaska’s dime and you called it Official Business. Now you’re counting on God to swing the election in your favor.  SMDH

One thing is clear. You’ve got a lot of nerve.

Atheists Take Their Non-Belief To The Buses of London

Seeking to cast doubts in the hearts of many, atheists have raised money to begin a campaign on London buses.

Their ad says “There’s Probably No God. - Now stop worrying and enjoy life.”

When you think of it, the campaign is flawed. If they truly believed there was no God, then why use the word “Probably?” That’s like saying, there’s a 50/50 chance, and I don’t like those odds.

James Cleveland use to say, “Better to have and not need then to need and not have…”

This campaign could seemingly be perceived as a desperate attempt to get attention for a sorry lot of people, but much to their chagrin, the whole thing could actually backfire and cause more people to actually think more about the creator of all things.
